About the supplier

FINDOOR is Canada’s biggest manufacturer of folding doors. Our own installers install the doors and make sure that they work trouble-free. In this way you can get guaranteed quality from FinDoor, designed to withstand use in Canadian working environments.

Folding doors to meet any application
FinDoor’s folding doors are industrial grade doors for use, for example, by workers in the trades. They are durable and so light in construction that even a big door can be operated manually without much exertion.

Withstands weather and wear
The folding door holds up under heavy usage day after day without needing continuous maintenance. It is an excellent choice as a door on, for example, barns, fire stations, airport buildings, fabrication plants and carwashes. The core of the door is a thermally insulating material that does not absorb water, and that core is clad in sheet steel with a treated surface. Whenever the door is opened or closed, steel hinges lift the door off the floor, keeping the weather-stripping on the door bottom in good condition and also making light work out of using the door. The weather-stripping, being made of EPDM rubber holds up well in extreme conditions. If needed, you can also get an entry door in the folding door itself, plus you can get fire resistance for your door up to a classification of EI30.

Waste not
Findoor’s folding doors help prevent the transmission of heat throughout the year bringing savings in heating and cooling costs, for the weather-stripping tightly seals moisture and outside air away from the interior.

The male and female design weather-stripping between panels as well as the door edging weather-stripping squeeze tightly against the critical surfaces when the door is closed, and immediately separate from each other when the door is opened. The final result is a weathertight, heat transmission blocking door with weather-stripping that is good for many years. The folding doors furnished with windows are also very weathertight. In the fully glazed doors, much of the surface is glass, making it somewhat less thermally efficient.

Unique door with no maintenance worries
Every single door is fabricated at our own factory to fit exactly the specifications from each customer. This means that you will get precisely the door you want with respect to dimensions and appearance.

A minimal number of moving parts means maximally worry free and operationally reliable door. After its installation, the folding door will easily last the next 20 – 30 years with just a bit of maintenance. If you do anticipate having maintenance needs more frequently, you can sign onto our Findoor Carefree Contract, whereby you will outsource the maintenance to us.

The folding doors can be equipped with wireless remote control mechanisms. One remote control device can open or shut up to four doors simultaneously. The doors can also be fitted with electric eyes, or the doors can be opened simply by having a push button switch mounted to the wall.

You could also get folding doors with windows in the panels or with panels completely glazed. The windows are made from double paned thermal glass units, which retains clarity for tens of years. The fully glazed folding doors are manufactured by framing the glass units with aluminum, 2” in thickness. These panels are then joined together with exactly the same parts as the normal folding doors are. The fully glazed folding doors are a splendid choice at, for example, car dealerships and fire stations, where the doors must be stylish and create no obstruction for the visibility of the interior spaces.

  • Hinges: elevating steel hinges with ball bearings
  • Windows: Double pane selective thermal glass. Any windows mounted less than 28” above the ground are of tempered glass.
  • Doors mounted to structure with mounting devices that are corrosion-proof to classification C4 [which, according to ISO 9223 keeps hinges rust free for 20-40 yrs.]
  • Opening mechanisms:
    • Manually opened doors: the door has a handle on its inside surface that allows its opening or closing.
    • Machine opening: a motor or draw-chain device is mounted to a door panel.
  • Additional specification: Fire resistance classification of EI30
    • Maximum size 16.5’ x 16.5’
    • Windows are not available on the doors with fire resistance classifications.
    • The appearance is the same as a normal folding door.
    • The fire resistant doors are heavier, therefore the mounting surface on the header face must always be at least 8” wide.
    • The available opening machinery consists of a regulations consistent draw-chain using device.

Fully glazed aluminum frame folding door specifications
Maximum size: 300” x 240”

  • Structure: folding door having glass panels inside aluminum frames
  • Thickness: aluminum frame thickness is 2”
  • Weather-stripping: the weather-stripping is of harsh conditions bearing EPDM rubber. The panels have 2-fold weather-stripping between them, and there is a double door-sweep weather strip at the bottom of the door.
  • Hinges: elevating steel hinges with ball bearings
  • Windows: double pane selective thermal glass. Also available with triple pane glass. The windows less than 28” above the ground are of tempered glass.
  • Kickguard of rust proof steel
  • Opening mechanisms:
    • Manually opened doors: the door has a handle on its inside surface that allows its opening or closing.
    • Machine opening: a motor or draw-chain device is mounted to a door panel.

Opening machinery mounted to a door panel
Suitable for the smaller and mid-sized folding doors with max. 3 or 4 leaves (smaller than 16,5′ x 16,5′), as at shops, smaller fire stations and barns.

  • Motor: 24V motor operates with single phase electric current
  • Safety equipment:
    • An electric eye system in line with the door prevents the closing of the door if there is some physical object between the detectors.
    • The door opening machinery includes a motor overload activated shut-off switch, which overload would be caused, for example, by a physical object preventing the opening or closing of the door. This prevents a breakdown of the machinery itself.
    • Folding doors that include a built-in entry door have a disconnecting switch that prevents the opening of the folding door when the entry door through it is open.
    • Three push-button switches, Open-Stop-Close, beside the door opening.
    • The door is also operable manually during power outages.
  • Control devices for the door opening machinery:
    • Push-button switch box (Open – Stop – Close) mounted on wall
    • Remote control switch
    • The door opening machinery can be hooked up to the building’s physical access system
  • Additional available features:
    • Canceling electric eyes (the door automatically closes once a vehicle has crossed the beam of light to the electric eye)
    • Radar utilizing door opening systems
    • Control through VIRVE signals
    • Magnetic loop door opener (installed in customer prepared conduit grooves)

Door opening devices using a draw chain

Suitable for big doors (bigger than 16,5′ x 16,5′) that have 4 to 6 leaves and are opened very frequently, such as, for example, at fire stations, carwashes and factories.

  • A separate rail for mounting the door opening machinery will be mounted above the door. The machinery will then be installed upon this rail.
  • This machinery will be operated with normal grid electric current (3-phase current)
  • Safety equipment:
    • An electric eye system in line with the door prevents the closing of the door if there is some physical object between the detectors.
    • The door edges that close against the building structure contain sensors.
    • Folding doors that include an entry door have a disconnecting switch which prevents the opening of the folding door when the entry door through it is open.
    • Three push-button switch box, Open-Stop-Close, beside the door opening.
    • The door is also operable manually during power outages.
  • Control devices for the door opening machinery:
    • Push-button switches (Open – Stop – Close) in switch box.

Entry and double door specifications

The opening for an entry door has a maximum width of 56″. The opening for the double door has a maximum width of 106”. If a wider opening is needed, then a folding door will be installed.
